ABC Wednesday.......K is for knotted tree and kiss!!

The Life Magazine cover photo of a sailor kissing a nurse after the end of WWII ... this famous photo was published on August 27, 1945. This statue (stands probably 30-50 feet tall) is in a park in Sarasota, FL and I know of another that is in San Diego, CA. I do not know how many there are or where the others may be. There have been many men and women claiming to be the person in the photo but no one knows for sure who they are.

That's a really knotted tree, but it's very beautiful.

Thanks, on behalf of the Team.

Another one that looks familiar. We're going to have to bring Ricepatty along with us next year :-)

I love that knotty tree! And the kiss is so exuberant - thanks for posting this!

I assume the knotted tree just grew that way. One time I was riding my quad in the bush and found a row of trees that had knots tied at the top. Someone wanted to stunt their growth I guess. It was quite a shame for the beautiful trees. I invite you to come see my post about The King. -- Margy

Great choice for K! Cool photo. I had no idea there was a stature of the "Kiss." There are other artist versions of that theme. Wasn't there a creepy one by Edvard Munch?

I remember seeing reproductions of the photo, but I've never seen a statue of this kiss. Your tree is definitely knotted!

What a wonderfully knotted tree that is!

I've seen that photo, but never a statue. It reminds me of another iconic image - of the two girls sitting on the railings by the sea with their skirts blowing in the wind and their hair flying. Such a wonderfully evocative picture.
