That's my world Tuesday #46.......

In our part of the 'world' and other parts of Florida as well, the sea turtle season runs from about April through October. When the turtles hatch they sometimes get disoriented because of lights shining from homes on the beach or they get thrashed around in rough waters and end up back on the beach. That's what happened to this little one I am holding. Someone found him/her stranded (Thursday evening) and turned it in to the Barrier Island Management & Education Center on Melbourne Beach, FL, where my daughter is the Education & Volunteer Coordinator. It was very lethargic and wouldn't have survived long had it been returned to the ocean right away. It was overnight due to the rough seas brought on by Hurricane Bill. One of my daughters co-workers called and asked if she could release it for them so on Friday we took it down to the beach to be released. The minute he/she heard the ocean waves it was like "let me go" and that is just what we did because at that time the waves had quieted down so we were pretty sure it would be able to swim without any problem.

It was quite special to be able to see that little one up close and personal. We had been over on the east coast helping DD and her BF move so that's how I got lucky to be able to hold the little loggerhead sea turtlebefore his release.

Shadow Shot Sunday #66

While at daughter's last week I took this photo late in the day to get the shadow shots...the round shadow is a beach unbrella that had been planted into the ground for a tiny bit of shade.

Color Carnival #16

Mural art found on the wall of a "tobacco/smoke" shop in Loveland, Colorado. I walked past the front door that was open and I didn't smell anything that one would think they were selling something other than legal tobacco!!

This is the "door" to the right of the mural...notice no door knob.?!?

Pink Saturday.....August 8

Just got back from vacation in Colorado Springs and while there went out to dinner at a BBQ restaurant with BFF family including her daughter's family. This is one of the grandaughters Alyssa, who is 3 years old and the other grandaughter who was with us was only 3 weeks old at the time but didn't I didn't take her picture with "Wilbur, the pig". Just last year Alyssa was not happy with larger than life characters so her grandma was quite surprised when she wanted to go find Wilbur and have her picture taken with him. She even introduced her Papa to him in a very grown-up way by saying "Papa, this is Wilbur, Wilbur this is Papa!"
