Yes, the skins probably WERE red. :) The dolls are interesting folk art, I think.

I spotted these APPLE (the outside was probably red at one time) dolls in a shop in Walt Disney World.....aren't they adorable? Well, a grandpa dressed in a tutu and holding a fairy wand is something you'd probably never see! hehe!
